Competitive Dat Rate / 12 Month Contract / 1 Day a Week Average Remote Contract

Instinct is working with a leading professional body, who provide a wealth of qualifications and accredited programmes for the specialist sector they represent. They advocate for better standards of work for the members that work in this field, working to influence public policy and shape the positive societal impact these members are able to make. The organisation has been steadily undergoing a new Learning and Development strategy, which includes the introduction of a new Learning Management System in the next 18-24 months. In the meantime, they are looking for an experienced Moodle Developer to oversee the day-to-day management of their current LMS, Moodle, before they make this transition.

The contract will be for an average of 1 day a week, but this can be worked as two half days or even in the evenings if required. The successful place holder will need to have strong competence with the Moodle Learning Management System, and will be tasked with customising themes, making UI improvements, developing plug ins, and database management. Aside from this, there will be a need for understanding API integrations and creating custom reports, as well as the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and to a strong standard.

The ideal contractor will have experience in the following:

  • Proficiency in Moodle development, including the Moustache framework for custom themes and UI improvements.
  • Strong experience with Moodle coding standards and best practices for plugin creation and system customization.
  • Expertise in PHP and MySQL for database management, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with source control systems, such as GitLab, for version control and collaboration.
  • Experience working with ticketing systems to document and resolve development issues effectively.
  • Ability to develop, tweak, and maintain custom Moodle plugins and features.
  • Competence in modifying and creating custom reports and dashboards to meet user and organizational needs.
  • Knowledge of API integration to streamline workflows and enhance system interoperability.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve performance issues, ensuring Moodle platforms run smoothly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience documenting technical solutions and processes.

Aside from a competitive daily rate, the successful contractor will have the opportunity to work in a highly regarded professional body on a remote, flexible basis.
